The template's download tab pulls a monthly P&L report through Amalgam for the period you set on the Summary tab, then annualizes each line, the actual months returned are summed, divided by the number of months, and extended to a full twelve, with an optional growth or inflation multiplier applied line by line where you want next year to differ from run-rate. An account mapping column sits beside the report so each P&L line, including sub-accounts and one-off accounts that shouldn't survive into the budget, is pointed at the account the budget should actually be booked to. The formulas then roll those mapped amounts up by account and spread them evenly across the twelve budget periods.
Those amounts are then fed to another tab, the Amalgam Budget resource, for preparation and loading into the GL. Each row carries the budget name, its start and end dates, the budget type and entry type, the target account, and the twelve monthly values with their period dates, plus optional department, class and customer dimensions. This template handles both a first-time build and an ongoing revision of a live budget scenario.
