QBO Reporting Transition: September 2026

QuickBooks Online is rolling out changes to its Reporting API on September 1, 2026. Intuit has provided a limited amount of information on this change, so this support article walks through Amalgam’s in-house analysis of the changes and how they may affect users.

We compared all 30 Amalgam reports from QuickBooks and analyzed them in detail for before and after the update. Most are unaffected, but a few changes could break formulas that rely on column positions. We’ve outlined them here and also provided a downloadable template for you to see visually.

  • AP Aging Detail: Some columns have been re-ordered.
  • General Ledger (and Paginated version): Some existing columns have moved, and when new columns are added, they are appended to the right-most portion of the report. There is also an update to the date format.
  • Transaction List: Amount column moves and account names appear differently.
  • A handful of other reports will experience some changes, but they are mostly cosmetic or a form of enriching the dataset further.
  • Journal Report: Enriched data in split lines, renaming of debit/credit columns.
  • P&L Customer Splits: Customer lines with zero values do not return.
  • Transaction List by Vendor: Account names for parents include the account number.
  • Transaction List with Splits: Split lines now carry date/type/name information.
  • Transaction List: Paginated: Split lines now carry date/type/name information.
